With his large set of adjusting "tools", Dr. Asness can make sure you get exactly what you need, rather than some standardized, one size fits all program. Dr. Asness does chiropractic adjusting by hand, not with a hammer. He is not a "no-force" chiropractor, but uses just enough force to get the job done. By being very precise and very fast, and encouraging your body to relax during the adjustment, the force can be amazingly light, but still highly effective.

Key Benefits

The right adjustment for you There's an old joke that says, "To the man with only a hammer, every problem looks like a nail". If a doctor is married to one technique or package, you'll be fit into it. Since Dr. Asness has a large tool kit, he can select the adjusting techniques that are right for your body and your condition.

The heart of chiropractic, correcting (reducing) the subluxation is what chiropractors do best. Restoring proper function of the spine is still best done by adjusting the spine by hand. However, if therapies are needed (ultra sound, electro stimulation, massage, etc.) are needed Holistic Body Work is fully equipped and Dr. Asness is very qualified to perform any needed treatment.

Like a string of pearls, each technique has a 'pearl' which represents the best current approach to a particular situation.

The developers of these pearls often feel obligated to construct a complete technique, which may or may not come up to the standard of the original insight. Why not work with the whole string of pearls?

Work Related Injuries

Work-related injuries can be frustrating for the worker and the employer. We know how to help injured workers get back to their normal lifestyle and be productive again.

When a worker is hurt, they have freedom of choice when it comes to choosing a doctor. Treatment for a work related injury is covered through your employer's Worker’s Compensation insurance, not your own health coverage. Even if your employer requires that you be seen by the company doctor, you still have the right to make a second appointment with your doctor of choice. The first doctor to see you twice is the one that is assigned to your case. Any changes will need approval from the employer or insurance company.

An attorney is often helpful in work-related injuries if the recovery is long or the injury is permanent. If you do not have a competant attorney that specializes in Worker’s Compensation law we can recommend three for you to chose one from.

If you are injured at work, report the injury to your supervisor and fill out a First Report of Injury form as soon as is reasonably possible. Then call Holistic Body Work for a consultation and exam. Neck, shoulder and lowback injuries are common in the work place and Dr. Howard Asness is uniquely qualified to help you with your recovery.

Following a work injury, symptoms may come immediately or may take days or even weeks to develop. Commonly, people experience numbness or tingling in arms or legs, stiffness , headaches, diziness, or neck & shoulder pain. Low back pain is also common and may occur several days or weeks following other symptoms.

There are some simple and very important things you can do to help yourself when you've been injured. Applying ice is very effective in preventing the swelling from actually increasing the severity of the damage. Within 24 hours of the injury, wrap the ice in a wet towel and apply it dirrectly to the injured area. This helps the cold penetrate deep into the injury. Do this 30 minutes every hour and a half and rest the area; avoid stretching immediately following icing.

Call Holistic Body Work and Dr. Asness will see you as soon as possible to get you started on the road to recovery, usually by the very next day.

Auto Injuries

Fortunately, in New York, we have NO-FAULT auto insurance. This simply means that anyone involved in a motor vehicle accident has coverage for the care of those injuries. Also, they may go to any doctor they choose, even if their standard health insurance coverage is with an HMO. OR EVEN IF THEY HAVE NO HEALTH INSURANCE COVERAGE AT ALL! This is because, under the law, auto injuries are intentionally separate from individual insurance coverage. This means that you have COMPLETE CHOICE at a time when you really need that choice the most.

Holistic Body Work is focused on helping you regain health, so that people don't just come in injured and leave feeling better, they come in injured and leave healthy!
